Blog 6: Class Pages & Teacher Technology

The web page I chose was my middle school that I attended, grades 6th through 8th. When fist entering the page, I see a sky view picture of the school. I information about the school, the curriculum and a section about enrollment as well. When I scroll down on the page, I see a column on the latest posts and news going on in the school. I also see a section for upcoming events that the school hosting. It is great that they put a section on what a charter school is because people often have misinformed ideas.

There are many technology tools that teachers can use to help them be more effective and efficient. Email is number 1! Communicating via email is an important tool, whether it be to other teachers or to parents. Information is shared digitally through the world wide web, meaning that it is there forever and accessible anywhere with Internet access. When it comes to being a tool of communication between parents, students and children, as well as tangible flyers are eliminated. Things can be lost in translation or simply lost! Another tool is Microsoft Office Suite.  The Word Processing tool, PowerPoint, and Excel are all instrumental tools that not only teachers use, but students as well. Google Calendar is also a great tool to keep track of events in real time. It is a visual representation of what you have to do.

The Sandbox had a lot of cool tech that can be ideally implemented in the classroom. Realistically, I believe that the motion detector iPad is a great innovative tool maybe in an older classroom so students can listen and be a part of lecture at same time but not really. Another piece of tech is the iPad games with the word tile pieces. This could definitely be used maybe in a younger classroom as a center or reward for students. I think the iPad is a great tool to incorporate in the classroom because it isn't nearly as expensive as the other tech but it still efficient. It is small and hand held which is a pro for use but con for safety and longevity if misused
