Independent Learning Project #1

For my first ILP, I have edited a picture of me in Adobe Photoshop. I was first introduced to Photoshop as a young teenager from my dad, who is into photography. When I got to high school, I took AICE Art & Design, and I was introduced to Photoshop again, but that time, very thoroughly. Since then, I have been well-versed in Adobe Photoshop and I really enjoy using it. From creating flyers to editing pictures, Photoshop is a very diverse tool and it is a great skill knowing how to use the application. Photoshop has many different aspects. The possibilities are endless and I have learned many shortcuts to using the program.

Blog 5: Web 2.0 Technology Tools

I believe that blogs are a great tool to use in the classroom. I have personally used classroom blogs in this class and in other classes. It gives students a different voice, a voice that is public to the world, which in a way is empowering. I enjoy reading my classmates blogs as well and viewing their media posted because I can see varying and original ideas. They also help students adopt a specific voice in the digital world and abide by the rules of the internet as a digital citizen. I think Diigo is a good tool to use for students, but not in the classroom, specifically. I think it would be a good homework assignment though. Students can read the article, annotate it, and the teacher could grade the assignment by adding constructive and meaningful comments. Blog 0: The Beginning

I have grown up using technology like a lot of my fellow millennials have. Starting in elementary school, I was attached to my desktop screen playing computer games after school. Soon after, I became aware of the technology that I was using in school: laptops, projectors, and recently, smart boards. I received my first cell phone in 3rd grade, but upgraded to a smart phone in about 8th grade. Accessing the Internet on my cell phone was revolutionary. I hope to learn more about technology and how it is being incorporated in our lives at such a fast rate. I also hope to brush up on my programming skills and learn new techniques. I am interested to learn about the technology that is being incorporated in the classroom as well and how students can use these resources efficiently.

Blog 9: Flipped Classroom, "Open", PowerPoints

In a traditional setting, students know what the next day lecture is gonna be on. Then they sit through lecture, receiving more info and then when they go home they are assigned homework. In a flipped classroom, the student is given all the class lecture materials before class. Then when they come to class, they get more individualized help from the teacher so they can leave with a better understanding of the material.
